Have you ever wondered what the Altar Society does? Who are the officers? Who are the members? The Altar Society has been in existence for many, many years. Current officers are Patsy Sekula-President, Dianne Dziuk-Vice President, Margie Zunker-Secretary and Jeanette Lyssy-Treasurer.
Did you know that all women of our parish are automatically members of the Altar Society? Yes, it's true! There are numerous ways you can participate. We do so much more than just take care of flowers and change altar cloths. We prepare the church for seasons such as Lent through the end of Easter which is Pentecost Sunday and Advent through the end of Christmas which is the Feast of Three Kings and Baptism of Jesus. We lead a monthly rosary the first Sunday of every month at 5pm to pray for the sick. We host the Easter Egg Hunt! We offer scholarships to graduating seniors who have faithfully served our church by being choir members and altar servers. We even launder the altar server cassocks and surplices.
There are so many ways to participate and, YES, we need your help. Future volunteer opportunities will be posted on our CCD Facebook page and our church's website. Next event will be Lenten preparations - changing altar cloths to purple, replacing flowers with thorns, etc. If you have any questions, please call Patsy Sekula at 830-623-1404.
